There has been a major change to the WWE Health Insurance policy. Previously, it was the free choice of each employee to decide whether to divert a portion of their income on health insurance. However from now on, the WWE Superstars will need to be actively insured with immediate effect.
WWE sources reports that all under contract WWE superstars must now have health insurance and it must be paid out of their own pocket. WWE itself is not responsible for the cost of health insurance. This decision was said to have already been taken several months ago. The final decision in this respect, however, was made just last Monday.
At first glance, this WWE Health Insurance decision seem contradictory. Almost exactly one week ago, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) had entered completely new territory by having it’s athletes all under contract with an insurance company.
Meanwhile WWE Superstars are still independent workers (so-called Independent Contractors) and are therefore not insured by the company(WWE). Under the status of the self-employed, the active WWE superstars pay for the cost of insurance, however, they can file it for tax deductible as business expenses. It should also be noted that WWE will continue to bear the costs of operations and rehabilitation, which a superstar incur during the performances at WWE events. Likewise, the rehabilitation program for former WWE stars still remains in place..
The Rock Summerslam|Survivor Series 2011
- Current plans for the Rock Next Appearance is set up for this year’s SummerSlam 2011 PPV. There are also ongoing plans to have The Rock, appearing at this year’s Survivor Series 2011 at Madison Square Garden. But these plans are still not fixed and his appearances will depend on his Movie Schedule. It also means that the WWE would develop a very “different” storyline between The Rock and John Cena for WrestleMania 28.
Previously a match of John Cena vs Alberto del Rio was planned for SummerSlam 2011. This is currently still the case, and John Cena is expected to defend the WWE Championship against Alberto del Rio. Although Alberto del Rio failed in his previous two chances for the gold, he is very appreciated by WWE Officials and is viewed as a future World Champion.
Also, R-Truth vs Rey Mysterio was planned for SummerSlam 2011, but now it has been switch to a match between R-Truth and John Morrison. The reason for the change of plan is due to John Morrison injury which will keep him out for another 4 weeks. Therefore WWE pull the trigger for RTruth vs Rey Mysterio for WWE Over The Limit 2011.
