A preview of the WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Results|Matches|Predictions for the PPV event which takes place on 04.29.2012 (29 April 2012) at Rosemont, IL, Allstate Arena. This was also the venue for the infamous CM Punk vs John Cena Money In The Bank 2011 PPV main event.
Traditionally this PPV has feature the theme of one night of extreme actions where each match is a gimmick based match involving weapons or cages. Last’s year main event was John Cena vs the Miz vs John Morrison (remember him?) for the WWE Title inside a steel cage.
WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Results

This year’s main event is likely to be the John Cena vs Brock Lesnar match, as the face of the WWE battle the (former) face of the UFC. This is Brock Lesnar return match in WWE after leaving the company 8 years ago.
It is reported that Brock Lesnar WWE pay is worth 5 millions for his one year run till Wrestlemania 29. This PPV will be a first foray into the Brock Lesnar experiment: can he have the same impact on WWE PPV Buyrates as he did with UFC PPVs?
Tribalwrestling will have coverage of the WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Results on April 29 2012, so stay tuned for the updates about the event.
Personally I have always been a big fan of Brock Lesnar, even with his lack of passion (burnout?) about pro wrestling. The guy just has the “IT” factor which many in the business talks about.
What makes Brock Lesnar a bigger star than when he left WWE is legitimacy. Lesnar is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion and a former NCAA wrestling champion. There’s something cool about a real life tough guy in a world of script fighting.
Plus Brock Lesnar is a celebrity, outside of the WWE bubble. ESPN and other media outlets would love to have him appear on their shows because of his status as a former UFC Champion.
The downside to Brock Lesnar in the short term is that he’s not wrestled a match for around 6 years. After he left the WWE, he actually compete in Japan wrestling and won the IWGP title before heading to the MMA leagues.
Bottom line is , he’s not in the best of ring shape, plus his health issues were a major factor in him retiring from MMA. It’ll be interesting to see what “style” of wrestling Brock Lesnar employs for his WWE return. Will he use an MMA fighting style ?
WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Matches

Chris Jericho vs CM Punk Chicago Street Fight
Traditionally over the past few years, the match card are rematches from Wrestlemania PPV. This year should be no difference, with the key bout being CM Punk vs Chris Jericho for the WWE Title.
This match should be red hot, as Punk returns to his hometown at Extreme Rules to defend his WWE title. The Chicago crowd is one of the most vocal and smark based audience in the country, so expect strong support for the heels as well throughout the PPV.
The whole your daddy is a drunk angle has been really well done, and Chris Jericho is proving again that he is one of the top heels in the business today. There’s really nothing to like about the Chris Jericho character, in a nutshell the guy is a scumbag who only cares about himself.
WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Results|Matches|Predictions
That is the type of heel that really helps build up sympathy heat for CM Punk’s babyface character, which was previously not available. Sure fans cheered for Punk, only because they felt he was the cool rebel and anti authority character that spoke his mind.
To have the fans care about CM Punk on a more personal level, that’s the masterstroke of this feud thus far. I expect another great wrestling encounter, probably better than their Wrestlemania 28 match with a hot Chicago crowd in attendance. With the Chicago Street Fight match stipulation, this could be a wild and brutal match.
WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Match Card – Who is missing from the PPV?
Undertaker, Triple H and Shawn Michaels are unlikely to be at the event after their awesome match at Wrestlemania 28. The Rock has gone back to Hollywood for his movies and won’t be present either.
WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Matches – Who is available for the PPV?
Lord Tensai made his WWE debut on Raw a couple of weeks ago and I expect him to squash somebody here again. We also saw Alberto Del Rio return on that edition of Raw, he is likely to wrestle at the PPV too.
For Sheamus, he has no shortage of opponents to defend his newly won World title against. Daniel Bryan has a rematch clause, Christian can claim one more match and Del Rio earned a title shot by defeating the World Champion via DQ on Smackdown. After this week Blast From The Past Smackdown Supershow, it’s confirmed to be Daniel Bryan vs Sheamus 2 out of 3 Falls Match at Extreme Rules 2012.
Randy Orton vs Kane is another possible match up, as the Viper lost clean to Kane in Miami Florida. Cody Rhodes vs Big Show II is also expected, in another gimmick rematch.
WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Predictions

Brock Lesnar vs John Cena Extreme Rules Match
The main event features two men who can’t afford a clean loss. John Cena would look like a chump if he lost again after failure on the big stage against the Rock. Brock Lesnar returns to WWE and need to establish credibility first. Interesting to note that Brock Lesnar 2012 WWE ring gear attire is similar to his UFC/MMA ring gear.
A double DQ or no contest should be the most likely result for this match, to keep the heat for both guys and build toward another rematch at WWE Over the Limit 2012 PPV.
WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Predictions
CM Punk vs Chris Jericho Chicago Street Fight
With a strong crowd behind him, CM Punk should be able to retain the gold here. I just don’t see WWE officials wanting to put the WWE Title on Chris Jericho at this point of his career. Punk has been a great WWE Champion, and that reign should continue for awhile more.
WWE Extreme Rules 2012 Predictions

There might be some Divas match or tag team match added as filler match for the event to round up the WWE Extreme Rules 2012 match card. There’s room for the Miz, Alberto Del Rio, Christian among others to be on the card. The official theme song for the PPV is Adrenaline” by Shinedown. No doubt you’ll hear it many times over in the coming weeks on Raw and Smackdown.
