This year Wrestlemania 2011 is set to go 4 hours live on PPV and online stream. Below are my WWE Wrestlemania 27 Predictions, I’m only going to predict the main matches which are confirmed at this point of writing.
Cm Punk vs Randy Orton Wrestlemania 27 Predictions
This match is going to steal the show, I know not many people are that excited about this match, but these two should have a really good match on the PPV. Randy Orton will get Cm Punk alone as the entire new Nexus has been taken out by Orton over the past month or so. Plus they are banned from ringside as per the stipulation of the anonymous Raw General Manager who ruled that only Nexus members who defeat Randy Orton are to be at ringside. Ultimately no Nexus member were victorious and this means two possible scenario. One is that Randy Orton will defeat Cm Punk cleanly in this match and take him out with the Punt Kick, ending the New Nexus stable once and for all. After all, WWE always end stables at Wrestlemania events.
Randy Orton vs Cm Punk Wrestlemania 27 Predictions
The second possible scenario is that Cm Punk wins, with a little help from an original Nexus member. I’m thinking about Michael Traver or Skip Sheffield. Since they are not technically part of the New Nexus, they could find the loopholes of the anonymous Raw GM and intervene in this match. I would prefer this scenario to help continue the New Nexus which still has some potential if the WWE book them right. Both scenarios are possible, so who do i pick?
WWE Wrestlemania 27 Predictions – Randy Orton defeat Cm Punk but is attacked by New Nexus after the match. I’m expecting a rematch at WWE Extreme Rules 2011, maybe under Last Man Standing Match or Ambulance Match since Orton has been sending Nexus members to the hospital. This feud is not expected to go on for too long as there are rumors that the WWE Draft 2011 will see Randy Orton drafted to Smackdown.
The next match up is Undertaker and Triple H. Frankly this match has the potential to be great or flop. Why?
No Hold Barred – Triple H vs Undertaker Wrestlemania 27 Predictions
First of, let’s talk about why this match up will deliver. The Undertaker and Triple H have a combined 40+ years ring experience in the wrestling business. Triple H been in WWE since 1995 and Undertaker since 1990, that’s 37 years of knowledge and experience from thousands of matches. They have headline 9 Wrestlemania main events together between themselves, that’s 1/3 of the 27 Wrestlemania so far!
But what’s the factor that could affect this match? Injuries and old age. Both men are in their 40′s and are now “part timer” for the WWE after years of toll in the ring and on the road. The Undertaker is still nursing a serious shoulder injury that is likely never going to recover 100%. Triple H had 2 major knee operations and has not wrestled since Extreme Rules 2010. Undertaker last match was at Bragging Rights 2010, around 5 months ago. You can bet these two ring veterans know their way around and will preparing hard to avoid any ring rust come Wrestlemania 27.
No Holds Barred Undertaker vs Triple H Wrestlemania 27 Predictions
What about the actual winner of this Wrestlemania match? Triple H has apparently told people backstage this he will retire from the WWE ring this year. Meanwhile Undertaker is going to be making a few more Wrestlemania apperances if you believe the rumors.. At this point, 18-1 will feel like an anticlimax ending to the legacy of the Undertaker WWE Career. Yes, it’s not a legit streak, but it’s a great part of the Undertaker legacy as one of the greatest of WWE character in company history.
WWE Wrestlemania 27 Predictions – Undertaker defeat Triple H in the No Holds Barred Match to extend the Wrestlemania streak to 19-0. After this, the Undertaker takes a break after Wrestlemania or he will feud with Kane/The Corre for them burying him back at Bragging Rights. Triple H will likely be off screen and settling into his WWE management role.
WWE Title John Cena vs Miz WWE Wrestlemania 27 Predictions
I’m rather undecided about this match. My heart say The Miz, my head say John Cena. Also, the Rock has to play a part in the match somehow, although hopefully not directly in the result of this WWE Championship match. The last thing we need is a screwjob finish, although that’s still better than a 90 second PPV World title match (see TNA Victory Road). If The Rock intervene, he will likely turn heel on John Cena, which is great. The Miz will be put over big time if he can walk out of Wrestlemania 27 as the second heel champion in the last match (the first and only being HHH). The question is the Miz really the guy WWE should get behind ? I’m still not convinced, the Miz promos have improved alot in the past year but I’m not positive yet he is the top heel who should be holding the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania.
WWE Title Miz vs John Cena Wrestlemania 27 Predictions
Meanwhile John Cena has won 5 out of 6 Wrestlemania matches, that’s no surprise as he’s been the top guy. I can only see two things happening, John Cena wins clean with The Rock taking out Alex Riley/Michael Cole or The Rock causing John Cena the match and turning heel. It’s all very unpredictable but since I fancy that The Rock and John Cena will both stay face…
WWE Wrestlemania 27 Predictions – John Cena defeat The Miz and become new WWE Champion with the Rock helping take out Alex Riley/Michael Cole. The next night on Raw, The Rock bid his farewell to the WWE Universe and reveal that he and John Cena now have mutual respect for each other.
Edge vs Alberto Del Rio Wrestlemania 27 Predictions
WWE has been pushing Del Rio very strongly, I think it’s because there is lack of fresh main eventers on Smackdown, so this one is easy to predict, Alberto Del Rio should win the World Championship, WWE already played out their cards by having him win the Royal Rumble 2011 match. It would be a major surprise if Edge retain the World title here, despite how strongly WWE will build up Edge before Wrestlemania 27.

What about Christian ? Since returning from injury, he has been helping Edge in his battle against Del Rio. Now Brodus Clay is invoved as the bodyguard on Del Rio side. I suppose both of these guys will be in the corner of Edge and Alberto Del Rio respectively during the Wrestlemania 27 match. Perhaps Christian indirectly cost Edge the match to set up a feud between them.
WWE Wrestlemania 27 Predictions – Alberto Del Rio defeat Edge to win the WWE World Championship and fulfill his destiny. They get a rematch at Extreme Rules PPV in a cage match. Christian is also likely to get involve to feud with both Edge and Del Rio for the World Title.
Jerry Lawler vs Michael Cole Wrestlemania 27 Predictions
This match should be fun to watch, although it’s not going to be a wrestling classic. The heat that Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler going into the PPV event is a good reference for WWE creative team booking this feud very smartly. I have really enjoyed Michael Cole heel run in the past year or so, it’s great and entertaining. I can’t believe I just said that about Michael Cole. Meanwhile Jerry Lawler is also working great as the old school wrestling legend, the fans genuinely get behind him and want him to destroy Cole.

The added factor to this match is Stone Cold Steve Austin being the special referee. Of course you have Jack Swagger in the corner of Michael Cole as well but I don’t think that will be a major angle. The storyline here is set up for Stone Cold to be revealed as the anonymous Raw GM, but of course WWE can drag the storyline out with no end in mind. The truth is that the Raw General Manager has been running too long and nobody know who he/she is. Will Stone Cold turn heel in this match on Jerry Lawler as some have suggested?

Cody Rhodes vs Rey Mysterio Wrestlemania 27 Predictions
This should be a good match with the potential to be a show stealer. However Rey Mysterio has not really perform greatly when it comes to his Wrestlemania matches. At least he’ll make this year Wrestlemania, having missed a few due to injuries in the past. I think Cody Rhode is a solid worker but nothing great in the ring. I’m expecting a good match here.
Rey Mysterio vs Cody Rhodes Wrestlemania 27 Predictions
Cody Rhodes is seeking revenge after Rey Mysterio damaged his face which obviously affect his Dashing looks. Meanwhile Rey Mysterio doesn’t worry about his face as he wear a wrestling mask, so this is becoming part of the feud. Dusty Rhodes, aka the father of Cody Rhodes will likely play a part in this match. I’m thinking that he will help his son to pick up a big Wrestlemania win here.
WWE Wrestlemania 27 Predictions – Cody Rhodes defeat Rey Mysterio with the distraction of Dusty Rhodes at ringside. The two should have a rematch at the next WWE PPV under Hair vs Mask rules. Or it could be mask vs mask with Cody Rhodes wearing his facial protection mask.
Trish Stratus/Snooki/John Morrison vs Laycool/Dolph Ziggler Wrestlemania 27 Predictions
This match was a surprise for many WWE fans as everybody thought that Snooki was only going to Guest Host Raw and that was it. The originally Wrestlemania 27 Rumors had Kelly Kelly teaming with Trish Stratus and John Morrison instead of Snooki. It’s clear that the WWE is delighted to get some mainstream media attention by having one of the cast of Jersey Shore, Snooki wrestling on the Wrestlemania 27 card.
John Morrison/Snooki/Trish Stratus vs Dolph Ziggler/Laycool Wrestlemania 27 Predictions
This 6 person intergender tag team match should be a comedy type match to act as the filler match for the more serious matches on the Wrestlemania 2011 card. I’m not expecting Snooki to get involved too much except hit a few moves and let the more experienced performers do their work. This match should end in a victory for the faces for the feel good factor.
WWE Wrestlemania 27 Predictions – Snooki from Jersey Shore to pick up the pinfall on Layla El for her team to win this 6 person tag team match. Now she will probably return to Jersey shore, likely to be a one off appearance for the WWE. Not expecting her to sign any long term WWE contract.
