Yet the WWE continue to push Cena as the #1 babyface, as long as he is selling merchandise. It’s worth noting that increasingly number of kids are present at WWE ppvs and tapings, so you can see why the WWE cater to these fans through tweaking of John Cena, which makes it even more frustrating because we all know this guy can be the chain gang rapper that was cool and relevant. How do you expect adult males to relate to a guy wearing purple shirt? Most don’t and that’s why Cena is not over with the male audience.

The Rock vs John Cena Wrestlemania 27|2011 – If The Rock Turns Heel

It will work because the Rock already has a somewhat mixed reputation about his loyalty to the WWE and the fans. After all, the Rock left the WWE in 2004 full time and never made any apperance in a WWE ring for 7 years. Now The Rock could easily play up his Hollywood Rock persona and declare that he left the WWE because he always sense that he was bigger than the WWE. How do you really turn The Rock heel? Have him screw John Cena out of the WWE title match at Wrestlemania 27 during the John Cena vs The Miz Wrestlemania 27 match and become ally with the Miz to add a twist to the Rock vs John Cena vs the Miz feud.

Next have The Rock declare the Miz as the guy who he decided was worthy of passing the torch to as the future of the WWE. Finally have Michael Cole become a heel manager for both The Rock and The Miz. Or have the Rock revealed as the anonymous Raw general manager and abuse his powers against the babyfaces. No jokes, no catchphrases, just serious promos (think Chris Jericho transforming from Y2J). That’s how you turn the Rock heel.

The Rock vs John Cena Wrestlemania 27|2011 – If John Cena turns heel

The logical scenario would be for John Cena to turn on The Rock when saving him from a beatdown from The Miz and Alex Riley. Then John Cena would assault the Rock badly, putting him out on the shelves for months. John Cena would then cut promos taunting and mocking the Rock to prove that he is better than the Rock. Finally John Cena would form a new version of the Nexus with Wade Barrett and Cm Punk to form a mega stable to take over Raw and Smackdown. Out with all the kiddies stuff, the new John Cena would bring a mash up of his chain gang attitude and mean streak. With the Nexus backing him, Cena would feud with The Undertaker and Randy Orton to complete his heel turn.

So back to the original concept, in this feud of The Rock vs John Cena, who should play the heel and babyface? Frankly it’ll 100% depend on what the Rock future plans are.
