CM Punk Wins WWE Championship Title
In the main event of WWE Money In The Bank, CM Punk Wins WWE Championship Title in his hometown of Chicago on Sunday July 17th. The title win was memorable and celebrated for several reasons.
We witness one of the best matches of the year, packed with intensity, drama and action. The storytelling was very well done and both guys showcase the best of their abilities.
In a dramatic ending, Vince Mcmahon and Johnny Ace showed up, only to indirectly distract John Cena who got caught in the GTS and lose the WWE Title. The Money in The Bank PPV ended with CM Punk leaving via the crowd with the WWE Title as Vince Mcmahon looked on in shock.
Here are the 5 reasons to celebrate CM Punk WWE Championship Title win….
1) CM Punk Wins WWE Title For First Time In His Career
After struggle in the indies for years to pay his dues (including stints in ROH/TNA Wrestling), CM Punk signed a WWE contract in 2005 and made it to the top company in the wrestling business. However as Punk has noted, he was mocked and look down upon by the management of WWE. One of the trainers in WWE even labelled CM Punk “King of The Indies”.
CM Punk would go on to silence his critics by winning 3 World Title in the WWE. However Punk did not yet win the WWE Title, the most prestigious title in the business. Well, that changed on July 17th in Chicago during the Money In The Bank PPV. After CM Punk win WWE Championship title, he shall now be known as “King of the WWE”!
2) CM Punk Wins WWE Championship Title – Voice For the Voiceless
For years, the fans on the internet have express frustration and even anger at the direction of the WWE. Fed up with seeing Superman John Cena overcome one heel after another, CM Punk WWE Title Win is proof that Vince Mcmahon is still willing to take a break away from catering to kids and family friendly content.
During his own shoot promo on Raw recently, CM Punk blasted Vince Mcmahon and WWE management for the backstage politics and poor treatment of wrestlers compared to “superstars”.
3) CM Punk Wins WWE Championship Title – A New Era?
In recent weeks, we seen the WWE taken to another new level, seemingly creeping away from the WWE PG programming. We seen edgier promo and language, on top of shoot promo that blurred the line between reality and scripts. For a start, CM Punk might even fulfill his idea to change the “hideous” looking WWE Title carried around by John Cena.
Has Vince Mcmahon finally realize that the PG Era is no longer working? Could this be the start of a new era in the WWE? We’ll see in the coming weeks, heading into WWE Summerslam 2011.
4) Punk or Riot
One thing that was resolved when CM Punk Wins WWE Championship Title, it elimanted the chances of any riot inside Chicago’s Allstate Arena. The live crowd was very pro CM Punk and anti John Cena. It would not surprise anybody if there were legit crowd trouble if John Cena had retain the WWE Title.
Meanwhile the sentiments were similar online , many fans who were watching the PPV posted message of celebration upon witnessing CM Punk Wins WWE Championship Title by defeating John Cena.
5) CM Punk Staying With WWE
There i said it, the fact that CM Punk Wins WWE Championship Title after defeating the top babyface in the company….well Vince Mcmahon must have resigned CM Punk to a new contract. It would be hard to believe that Vince Mcmahon will invest so strongly in a guy on his way out. So for fans of CM Punk, the odds are the Straight Edge Superstar will still be staying in WWE.
So what happens now? That’s the big question after the Money In The Bank PPV that saw CM Punk Wins WWE Title and John Cena fired from WWE.
As always, WWE Raw will be the must watched show on Monday Night to find out the next chapter in one of the most dramatic storyline in WWE history.
