WWE official website announced that Chris Jericho is suspended for a unknown period by the company after the irresponsible act of denigrating the Brazilian flag at a WWE live event in São Paulo.

I first saw this on TMZ and I was shocked when I read it then I went to WWE’s website and saw it so I don’t know if it’s a legit suspending or if its a work but I ‘m leaning towards legit as it was said that the Brazil police were going to arrest Chris on the spot if he did not say he was sorry to everyone in the arena.
What’s taken lightly in one country can be a serious offense in another. I’m sure Jericho didn’t mean anything by it, he was just acting in character in which he plays a heel.
Another problem is that wrestling is not very popular in Brazil. It’s far far far from Japan, USA, Mexico, Europe in terms of popularity. People don’t understand the difference between babyfaces and heels. Wrestling is not mainstream in Brazil period.
Some people, authorities, media etc don’t understand Jericho is only doing his job as a heel. Well, the crowd booed a lot when he did it, but we didn’t take it serious. But he really shouldn’t have done that in a Country where wrestling is not popular and it is the WWE first time in Brazil.
Unfortunately, Brazil took major offense to this especially since WWE are considered visitors to their country. Think of it like this: what if some star from another country came to the U.S. and disrespected the United States flag? They would probably gather the sam reaction.
Former WWE agent Dave Finaly was fired from WWE for authorizing the Miz to interrupt the playing of the US National Anthem during a live event after complains from Nation Guards member.
I just wish he would have told someone what he was going to do because he obviously had no idea about the repercussions for using the Brazilian flag to draw heat. And definitely Chris Jericho didn’t mean anything by it. But, I am sure this is not the end for Jericho’s career in WWE and the suspension will be the same deal as the Daniel Bryan incident.
Jericho takes everything in stride and this will just be another episode. The only problem with this is it could turn into a big backstage problem between the company and Chris. Doubt we see him for SummerSlam.
I’m sure WWE had no choice but to suspend Chris Jericho; it would look very bad for the company if they let him go without consequence. I think having Chris Jericho Suspended is the right move at this point.
